When looking to revamp our denim jacket, we wanted a modern take on the classic Type III silhouette. We integrated the hand pockets into the front panel seam for a more streamlined look and got rid of the inside facing front chest pockets in favor of larger, easier to access outer flap pockets.
We largely kept the fit the same as you'd expect out of a Type III: plenty of room to move but not boxy or oversized. The cropped body length hits just below the belt. Shop owner Daniel (pictured) is 5'11" 190lbs wearing a size large.
We've cut this jacket in 13.5oz. black selvedge denim from Vidalia Mills in Louisiana. For the weight, this fabric is fairly soft right from the first wear and doesn't require a ton of time to break in. Black Japanese-made donut buttons secure the front, pockets, and cuffs. 9oz. camo twill pocket lining and black thread - both made in the USA - round out the details on this jacket.
Crafted to order in the Skinner American Goods workshop in Tallahassee.
